Effects Dialog

The Effects dialog allows the user to apply, configure or remove any visual effect which is supported by the selected control(s).

This dialog is divided up to into several sections that offer options specific to different effects and one that allows the user to apply or totally remove any effects that have been applied to the selected control(s).


Note: You can use Ctrl+Shift+E shortcut to invoke this dialog.

Gradient

dialog-effects-gradient01-tn.png The Gradient section of the Effects dialog allows you specify if and how you would like to include a gradient effect in the currently selected control(s).

Several different kinds of gradient can be applied to specific controls, allowing the user to customize the look of a control to fit into the overall visual design of the application.

Corners

dialog-effects-corners-tn.png The Corners section of the Effects dialog allows you specify if and how you would like to treat the corners of the currently selected control(s).

The user may define to which individual corner the effect will be applied and whether it will be applied as a specific radius value or a relative one (specified as a percent) . This effect can be applied to most controls to create a personalized style for an application or website.

Glow

Usage of the Glow effect is common when formatting the selected or focused states of controls in order to provide a distinctive visual indication of which control is currently selected.

Shadow

This effect is widely used as design tool to highlight certain portions of content or to create the illusion of three dimensionality to certain interface elements.

This effect is widely used as design tool to highlight certain graphical elements of an web interface, providing the illusion that that element is being reflected off a surface.

Transparency

This effect is used as design tool to create translucent controls which allow the user to partially see what is "behind" or "underneath" the control on a web page.

Effect Options

dialog-effects-effect-options-tn.png The Effect Options section of the Effects dialog allows you to add or totally remove any specific effects to the currently selected control(s).

In this section of the effects dialog the user can choose to totally remove all traces of an effect and then add the effect again starting from the default settings for the effect. It is also interesting to totally remove an effect if the user wants to hide or undo a specific effect.
